FSQ with Chuck Da Fonk - September 2nd 2020
Look At What I Almost Missed
FSQ show host Chuck Da Fonk almost missed these jams but with a little focused digging uncovered early 1980s rarities like a P-Funk cover by indie rocker Marshall Crenshaw, and a soulful tune by the secretive Ohio Players spin off group “Shadow.”
The 80s vibe continues via Ryuichi Sakamoto’s 1986 German live concert with funk legends Bernard Fowler and Lynn Mabry. FSQ show regulars Yello, Duran Duran, and James Brown are covered this week via deep rare grooves that focus on summer themes.
This week’s FSQ party celebrations include spins of W.A.P. related tunes, Virgo oriented songs, and thorough exploration of the 1980 musical output of the Parliament-Funkadelic juggernaut.
Tune into new broadcasts of FSQ, LIVE every Wednesday from 12 Noon – 2 PM EST / 5 – 7 PM GMT.
